AZCOPT Directs Healthy Eyes Healthy Children Grant Monies to Serving Special Needs Patients

The Arizona College of Optometry (AZCOPT) at Midwestern University recently received the Healthy Eyes Healthy Children grant from Optometry Cares – the AOA Foundation, the American Optometric Association’s philanthropic and charitable organization.

The $5,000 grant helped AZCOPT second- and fourth-year students offer free eye exams and glasses to special needs students at ACCEL, an Arizona-based non-profit institution offering comprehensive educational, behavioral, therapeutic, and vocational programs to children and adults with special needs.

The Healthy Eyes Healthy Children grant is offered by Optometry Cares – the AOA Foundation as part of their effort to expand eye care awareness, education and research, and access to eye health and vision care nationwide. The grant is sponsored by the Essilor Vision Foundation.
