Vernon Dela Cruz with VSP Vision Receives 2022 Ophthalmic Industry Leadership Award
The Ophthalmic Industry Leadership Award recognizes an individual from a current or past Corporate Contributor partner company that demonstrates exemplary support of ASCO and its member institutions. The individual serves as an example for his or her colleagues in the industry and has made exceptional contributions to the advancement of ASCO and optometric education. The 2022 Ophthalmic Industry Leadership Award recipient is Vernon Dela Cruz, Program Manager, Doctor Relations at VSP Vision™.
In his role, Vernon oversees VSP Vision’s Schools of Optometry and State Optometric Association programs. Over the years, Vernon has worked closely with ASCO and all of the schools and colleges of optometry to expand scholarships and grants for students, highlight practice management education, and reinforce the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the optometric industry.
“ASCO is in a unique position within the optometric community. In many ways it serves as a gateway into the profession.” Vernon said. “Having visited nearly all the schools and colleges in North America, I witnessed firsthand the passion for optometric education. I am fortunate to be surrounded by those who truly care for the future of optometry. Thank you ASCO, faculty, and administrators for all you do.”
Partnering with schools and colleges of optometry across the United States, VSP Vision offers a variety of programs and resources designed to help optometry students reach their career goals.
