Midwestern University Graduates Ready for Successful Healthcare Careers

Midwestern University celebrated the graduations of master’s and doctoral degree recipients who are beginning their professional careers in healthcare at several ceremonies during the months of May and June on the Downers Grove, Illinois, and Glendale, Arizona, campuses. Nearly 1,600 graduates participated in one of 13 commencement ceremonies, including the first graduating class from the College of Graduate Studies’ dual-degree Master of Public Health Program. New this year, several graduates from the College of Graduate Studies’ Biomedical Sciences Program will be transitioning to the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine in the fall as part of the University’s new Bridges program.

As part of the ceremonies, Kathleen H. Goeppinger, PhD, President and Chief Executive Officer of Midwestern University, acknowledged the many achievements of the graduates during their years of rigorous study and clinical experiences. Dr. Goeppinger encouraged the graduates to remember the values they learned as Midwestern University students. “These graduates have had to be resilient and flexible during the pandemic in order to achieve their degrees. One of the things I found very hopeful and promising is that so many of our graduates became leaders while on campus and took the time to participate in community service for the benefit of others. Many of them participated in Midwestern University’s Operation Hope, which allowed the University to provide COVID-19 vaccines to the community. We relied on many of the graduates, faculty, and staff to help the University vaccinate more than 19,000 individuals between both campuses,” Dr. Goeppinger said.

The commencement ceremonies featured remarks from members of the graduating classes and included a special recognition for students beginning their healthcare careers in the military.
