Dr. Mawada Osman Appointed as Assistant Professor of Clinical Optometry at Ohio State

Mawada Osman, OD, MS, FAAO, has been appointed as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Optometry in The Ohio State University College of Optometry, effective July 1, 2022.

Dr. Osman earned her OD and MS degrees from The Ohio State University College of Optometry in 2020, followed by the completion of a Community Health/Primary Care residency at the Cherry Health Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She has served as an Ohio State Optometry clinical faculty member since August 2021 and is currently the college’s Director of Outreach.

Dr. Osman is a valued colleague and excellent clinical teacher, and she embraces this expanded role as she joins the clinical faculty.

The Search Committee observed, “[Dr. Osman] provides a unique lens that will help our college embrace the shared values of the university, and she will focus on race and health equity in optometry.”

"Being a part of OSU Optometry has been such a rewarding experience,” said Dr. Osman. “I am looking forward to embracing my new role as clinical faculty! I feel very fortunate to work alongside such distinguished faculty and staff. I am excited to continue sharing my passion for community health optometry and hope to empower our students to become the next generation of excellent well-rounded optometrists."
