ASCO Sees a Slight Increase in Applicants in 2021-2022
ASCO experienced a 1% increase in applicants for the 2021-2022 OptomCAS application cycle compared to 2020-2021. ASCO had seen 4% and 5% increases in the number of applicants the previous two cycles.
In the most recent cycle, there were 2,700 applicants who submitted a total of 12,274 applications. This represents a 2% decrease in the number of applications submitted through OptomCAS as compared to the 2020-2021 application cycle. On average, applicants applied to 4.55 schools and colleges.
A full report on the 2021-2022 application cycle will be available through the ASCO website at the end of the calendar year.
Applicants apply through OptomCAS, the Optometry Centralized Application Service, which just recently launched on June 30 for application cycle 2022-2023. All 23 ASCO member schools and colleges participate in OptomCAS.
