All in Person Board of Directors and Annual Meetings for First time Since 2019
ASCO’s Board of Directors, invited guests and staff gathered in Chicago in person for the Summer Board of Directors meeting as well as the Annual Meeting.
A sampling of the completed tasks and topics discussed were:
- Reviewed the progress made in reaching the goals set out in the 2018-2022 Strategic Plan, and approved ASCO’s 2023-2027 Strategic Plan
- Considered a proposal to create two new ASCO awards
- Approved proposed revisions to the ASCO Functional Guidelines for Didactic and Clinical Education
- Discussed how best to handle requests for research/survey distribution
- Heard presentations from Optometry Giving Sight and EssilorLuxottica’s All About Vision initiative
- Received updates from Corporate Contributors Alcon and Allergan
- Discussed the latest update on plans to host a Summit on Subspecializations in Optometry
- Introduced ASCO’s new Director of Development, David O’Donnell.
ASCO’s officers for 2022-2023 were elected. Dr. Melissa Trego was installed as ASCO President. Other officers are: Dr. Mark Colip, President-Elect; Dr. Michael Bacigalupi, Treasurer; Dr. Frasier Horn, Secretary; and Dr. Kelly Nichols, Immediate Past President.
The Board of Directors will next meet in San Diego on October 25, 2022.
