Dr. Sherrol Reynolds Bestowed Inaugural AAOF Excellence in Diversity Awareness and Education Award
Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry announces that Sherrol A. Reynolds, OD, FAAO, associate professor, is the recipient of the inaugural AAOF Excellence in Diversity Awareness and Education Award. The AAOF Excellence in Diversity Awareness and Education award is presented for excellence in the initiation, education, and support of programs that support diversity, equity, and inclusion and belonging in optometry. The award was presented at the 2022 Academy Awards Ceremony in San Diego, California.
Besides being President of the National Optometric Association from 2018 - 2021, Dr. Reynolds also worked tirelessly for the American Academy of Optometry (AAO) as the chair of the Strategic Plan’s Membership Pillar, developing a comprehensive plan for AAO to better reflect the diversity of practicing optometrists and their patients. The plan included raising awareness among all AAO members of diversity and inclusion issues.
