ASCO Board of Directors Meets at PCO/Salus
ASCO’s Board of Directors came together on the campus of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University on March 23 & 24 for its Spring Board Meeting.
Some highlights of the meeting were:
- Discussions around strategies for exploring subspecialities in optometry.
- Progress review of the applicant pool results; the public awareness campaign, Optometry Gives Me Life (OGML); and future campaign initiatives.
- Approval of the 2023 Special Recognition Award recipients and nominees to serve on ACOE.
- Passage of prioritized strategies and tactics for implementation of the 2023-2027 ASCO Strategic Plan.
- Approval of changes to ASCO’s Traffic Guidelines for Admissions.
- Updates from representatives from ASCO Corporate Contributors Topcon and Heine about their latest news, products and services.
- Approved FY24 budget assumptions, FY OGML dues assessments, and the FY23 audit schedule.
Additional topics covered were:
- Updates on fundraising efforts from ASCO’s Director of Development and the Fundraising Advisory Committee.
- Progress reports on the Future Faculty Program and the Optometric Education Leadership Institute.
- Discussions on the results from a comparison report of 1PL v. 3PL scoring systems for the OAT as well as residency match numbers.
- Consideration of a proposal to change ASCO’s Active Member dues starting in FY25.
- Call for FY24 officer nominations.
