SCO Hosts 2023 Commencement
Southern College of Optometry formally awarded 134 graduates with their Doctor of Optometry degrees at a commencement ceremony held on May 2, 2023 in downtown Memphis.
By approval of SCO’s Board of Trustees and faculty, retired SCO Professor Dr. Glen Steele was named Professor Emeritus in recognition of his record 53 years of service on SCO’s faculty.
Delivering the commencement address and receiving the honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree was Marty Regan, SCO’s longtime legal counsel who has advised the college since 1985.
Members of SCO’s Class of 1973 were on hand as part of their 50-year class reunion festivities. They joined graduates and their guests for a reception immediately after the ceremony.
