ASCO’s Board of Directors Meets in Washington, DC
ASCO’s Board of Directors, invited guests and staff gathered in Washington, D.C., for the Summer Board of Directors meeting as well as the Annual Meeting.
A sampling of topics discussed and actions taken were:
- Status of fundraising efforts and on-going initiatives
- Update on Subspecialization project
- Approval of bylaws changes pertaining to membership and provisional membership
- Recent ORMatch post-match numbers
- Financial reports, year-end projections, investments results as well as approval of FY24 budget assumptions
- Approved change to ASCO’s Active Member dues beginning in FY25
- Heard update on implementation next steps for new Strategic Plan.
Two presentations from ASCO Corporate Contributors, National Vision and CooperVision, were also given, and ASCO thanks them for their time, talent and support.
ASCO’s officers for 2023-2024 were elected. Dr. Mark Colip was installed as ASCO President. Additional officers are: Dr. Frasier Horn, President-elect; Dr. Alicia Feis, Treasurer; Dr. Keshia Elder, Secretary; and Dr. Melissa Trego, Immediate Past President.
ASCO’s Annual Meeting is always open to anyone who wishes to attend, and this year’s meeting was generously sponsored by EssilorLuxottica.
The meeting included:
- Dr. Melissa Trego giving a look back on her productive year as ASCO President and “passing the gavel” to incoming ASCO President Dr. Colip.
- Presentations regarding ASCO’s Optometry Gives Me Life public awareness campaign and diversity efforts.
- Presenting Resolutions and Special Recognition Awards.
A representative from Annual Meeting sponsor EssilorLuxottica speaking about their Financial Freedom Program.
The Board of Directors will next meet in New Orleans in October.
