Bausch + Lomb Promotes Eye Safety for Total North American Eclipse, Sponsors Eclipse Festival

Leading up to the total North American eclipse on Monday, April 8, Bausch + Lomb advocated for safe eclipse viewing with employees, eye care professionals, patients and consumers, including posting reminders and tips on its social media channels. 

The company’s Rochester manufacturing facility was in the eclipse's Path of Totality. The site, which also boasts a state-of-the-art research and development center, has nearly 1,200 employees.

Bausch + Lomb also supported various activities in the Rochester area:

  • Rochester Museum and Science Center (RMSC) Sponsorship
    Bausch + Lomb was the official eye health sponsor of RMSC’s Eclipse Festival.
  • Viewing Party and custom Bausch + Lomb eclipse glasses
    Employees and their families were provided custom t-shirts and glasses for an eclipse viewing party on Monday, April 8. Many of Bausch + Lomb’s other locations across the nation also hosted viewing parties with company-provided eclipse glasses.
  • Other activities:

a.     A poster exhibit featured the work of astronomer Dr. Tyler Nordgren; one poster was raffled to an employee.

b.     A virtual “Lunch + Learn” featured Dr. Nordgren and Debra Ross from the American Astronomical Society and National Eclipse Task Force.
