Dr. Sherrol Reynolds Inducted as a Distinguished Fellow to the National Academies of Practice
Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry (NSUCO) is proud to congratulate Dr. Sherrol Reynolds, OD, who has recently been honored as a Distinguished Fellow to the National Academies of Practice.
Sherrol Reynolds, OD, is a professor and an alumna of NSUCO in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, a graduate of the University of Florida, and this year’s NSUCO Professor of the Year. She serves as Chief of the Davie Primary Care Clinic and Director of the Retina Clinic.
She served as president of the National Optometric Association (NOA) from 2017 - 2021 and received the 2013 NOA Optometrist of the Year award. She received the 2021 Women in Optometry Leadership Award, the American Optometric Association 2021 President’s Award, and the 2022 American Academy of Optometry Foundation Excellence in Diversity Awareness and Education Award.
She was a member of the Prevent Blindness scientific committee, chaired the Florida Optometric Association Healthy Eye Healthy People committee, and Women in Optometry board member. She was also the only optometrist who contributed to the 2022 American Diabetes Association Compendia, which provided the latest information and best practices for treating diabetes and related complications.
A Distinguished Fellowship in the National Academy of Practice in Optometry is the recognition of spectacular achievements of marked careers in optometry and the health professions.
Requirements for a National Academy of Practice Fellowship include demonstrating an exemplary career of ten years or more and a commitment to interprofessional practice and accessible and affordable health care for all. Applicants are selected by distinguished peers based on having made significant and enduring contributions to their profession.
