A Day in the Life of a Salus University Doctor of Optometry Student
Maddy Edwards is a first-year student at Salus University in the Doctor of Optometry Accelerated Scholars program. She is from State College, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Penn State University in May 2023 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and minors in Women’s Studies and Biochemistry.
“Every day tends to be a little different in this program, but each one is always full of lectures, studying, patient care, and lots of time with my wonderful classmates,” she said.
Other than lectures, another big part of her day is patient care. This past fall quarter, her class went to The Eye Institute for patient care one to two afternoons a week for shadowing, but in the spring, they started as the primary doctors three to four afternoons a week.
