ASCO Sponsors National Academies of Practice Annual Meeting and Forum
ASCO was a proud sponsor of this year’s National Academies of Practice (NAP) Annual Meeting and Forum, which was held March 14-16 in Jacksonville, Florida.
The National Academies of Practice advises governmental bodies on our health care system and is the only interdisciplinary group of health care practitioners dedicated to these issues.
Distinguished Practitioners, Scholars and Policy Fellows are elected by their peers from multiple different health professions. Optometry is one of 16 health professions recognized as a NAP Academy organization.
ASCO’s ongoing commitment to supporting Interprofessional Education at member institutions and its recognition of the importance of Collaborative Practice across health professions aligns with NAP’s vision as “the alliance of health care professionals who are collaborating to transform health and wellbeing,” and mission of “Advancing Interprofessional Education, Scholarship, Research, Practice and Public Policy.”
Along with other academic health care organizations represented, the Annual meeting and Forum is the perfect opportunity for optometric educators to build interprofessional relationships, convey the roles and responsibilities of optometrists as health care providers, network with other professionals, and provide an avenue for a unified voice of interprofessional care to stakeholders to improve health care outcomes.
