The VHI applies public health strategies to enhance surveillance and applied research that provide the basis for effective public health programs and policy decision to promote eye health and reduce the burden of vision loss. Current activities include surveillance and epidemiology, implementation research, state capacity building, and health outcomes and economic studies in partnership with states, universities, and national organizations.
