Retiring SCO Professor Gives Last Lecture
Dr. Betty Harville, from Southern College of Optometry, is retiring later this summer after 37 years of teaching. She's currently the institution's second-longest serving faculty member and their longest-serving woman on faculty.
Dr. Harville was the first African-American woman to achieve the full rank of professor at any of the nation's optometry schools.
She's beloved, and although she doesn't officially retire until August, she gave her last lecture in April, delivered on video to her 134 freshmen students.
Here's a YouTube link.
Congratulations Dr. Harville! Enjoy your retirement.
