Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University Welcomes
Drs. Chad Killen and Gabriel Fickett
Chad Killen, OD ‘19, Resident ’20, has joined the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO) at Salus University as an instructor in addition to seeing patients in in primary care at The Eye Institute (TEI).
Dr. Killen graduated from Gettysburg College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Sciences. He received his Doctor of Optometry degree from PCO in 2019 and completed his residency in Low Vision Rehabilitation at TEI.
He received the William Feinbloom Low Vision Award and the Bernard Blaustein Resident of the Year Award for the Residency Class of 2020.
In his position as clinical instructor, Dr. Killen will be working with first-, second- and third-year students’ precepting them in their primary care experience.
Gabriel Fickett, OD, FAAO, joined the university as an assistant professor in the Cornea and Contact Lens Service at PCO.
After optometry school, he completed a residency in Ocular Disease/Cornea and Contact Lens at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary (MEEI) in conjunction with Harvard Medical School.
In addition to his training in contact lenses, a significant part of his residency training was spent in the Emergency Department gaining clinical exposure to a broad-base of ophthalmic disease cases, and he honed his skills in diagnosing and treating acute diseases of the anterior and posterior segments.
