Record Number of Registrants Attend OCEF 2020
The ASCO Online Clinical Educators Forum (OCEF), now in its sixth year, took place on November 6 and had its highest registration number to date -- 235 registrants. The first OCEF, held in 2015, had 144 registrants.
The purpose of the Forum is to allow clinical faculty from ASCO institutions to meet yearly in a virtual environment and share best practices, exchange clinical teaching philosophies, and strategize around their similar clinic-related interests and challenges.
OCEF funding has consistently come from one primary source over the years, the ASCO Clinic Directors & Administrators Special Interest Group. The OCEF program helps fulfill one of the charges of the ASCO Clinical Affairs Committee -- to identify ways for schools and colleges to informally share expertise and resources in clinical education, services, research and administration.
Dr. Greg Waldorf (MCPHS), co-chair of this year’s program planning group, said, “I was really happy with the outcome of this year’s OCEF. Since optometric clinical educators are leaders in our profession, Dr. McGovern and I approached this year’s program less from a clinical perspective and more from a practical, student education perspective. I hope the attendees appreciated this approach.” Dr. Michael McGovern (SUNY) was co-chair.
This year’s program featured four sessions, each followed by a live question and answer period.
