Université de Montréal School of Optometry Students Finally Able to Return to Campus
Back-to-school took a special meaning this year as students from Université de Montréal School of Optometry (EOUM) were allowed to head back to the campus. Though several measures will be enforced at least throughout the fall semester, the gradual return will give students the chance to break the isolation and have the energy they need to complete their education.
Freshmen at EOUM were clearly happy on August 25, as they were warmly welcomed by seniors and staff. By creating a safe space to meet, EOUM helped them to have a contact with their teachers and their classmates. Émilie Chapdelaine (pictured on previous page), a first-year student, is a good example of that. After a year of remote learning in college, she was glad to finally be able to meet people in person. Like her colleagues, she was impressed by activities planned by EOUM that instantly made her feel part of her new academic family.
EOUM did everything they could to make students feel confident as they embarked on the journey to become optometrists. After a passionate and inspiring speech from the Director, Dr. Langis Michaud, the freshmen got a VIP tour of the School. Apart from Quebecers, EOUM is delighted to welcome Canadian and foreign students from all horizons with diversified backgrounds.
