Deadline Extended for ASCO’s Summer Institute for Faculty Development Program
ASCO is now accepting applications to its ninth biennial Summer Institute for Faculty Development (SIFD), a program that promotes increased retention of faculty in the schools and colleges of optometry. The deadline for applications has been extended to October 28.
SIFD is co-chaired by Dr. Tiffenie Harris (WUCO) and Dr. Daniel Roberts (ICO). The program has been restructured into a program that includes both virtual and in-person sessions covering teaching, learning, scholarship and academic culture. The program will begin with virtual sessions in January 2022 and conclude with the in-person program in July 2022. The in-person Institute is scheduled for July 10-12, 2022, at Alcon’s headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas. Participants are expected to attend all sessions and mentor group meetings, in addition to completing pre-and post-program assignments.
All applications must be approved by the dean/president of the applicant’s institution before submission to ASCO. While the program planning committee plans to accept up to two applicants from each active member institution, and one from associate and affiliate member institutions, schools and colleges are encouraged to submit additional applicants.
