ASCO Debuts New Graduate Education and Research Webpage
In recognition of the importance of graduate education and ASCO’s strategic goal of advancing research in optometry and optometric education, ASCO has established a new Graduate Education and Research webpage.
The webpage was developed by ASCO’s Research Committee, chaired by Dr. Michael Twa, and provides information on types of research, training pathways, how to fund graduate training, and optometry institutions with graduate research training programs along with corresponding focus topics and program contacts.
“The goals of the new webpage are to support the awareness and pursuit of advanced degrees, research training and research funding,” Dr. Twa said. “Providing a profile of the range of research activities within schools and colleges is important for those who wish to know what research looks like in the profession.”
Other research-related materials available on ASCO’s website include ASCO’s Annual Research Survey Report, which lists research funding by institution both by source and by type of science, trend tables that highlight NEI, foundation, and industry funding over time, and a full listing of the graduate degrees offered at ASCO member schools.
