ASCO Says Goodbye to LaShawn Sidbury Duckett, its Director of Meetings and Special Interest Groups
ASCO will soon bid farewell to its longtime Director of Meetings and Special Interest Groups, LaShawn Sidbury Duckett. She has accepted the position of Director of Meetings with the National Science Teachers Association.
LaShawn has been with ASCO for almost 15 years, beginning with then Executive Director, Marty Wall’s executive assistant/program manager. As her work experience, professional development, and competency grew, she was promoted to Director of Meetings and Special Interest Groups.
“On behalf of all ASCO staff, former and present, the Board of Directors, and volunteers, I wish LaShawn the best of luck in her new position,” says Dawn Mancuso, MAM, CAE, FASAE, ASCO’s Executive Vice President/CEO. “LaShawn’s role within ASCO cannot be overstated. She has grown the special interest groups and other programs and initiatives for our faculty and administrators such as the Future Faculty Program, Summer Institute for Faculty Development and Optometric Education Leadership Institute. We will miss her tremendously but are very happy for her as well.”
“This is bittersweet for me as I end my time with ASCO and begin a new opportunity,” says LaShawn. “I thank ASCO for a wonderful 15 years that allowed me to grow professionally and personally. I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know all the volunteers and faculty at the optometry schools and colleges and am proud of the work we have done over the years. I will miss everyone and I thank you all for the support and well wishes.”
LaShawn’s last day will be June 15. For those attending ASCO’s Annual Business Meeting, please stop by to wish LaShawn a fond farewell.
