ASCO Plans Phase II for Applicant Pool Development Campaign
ASCO leaders recently met in Rochester, New York, to start planning Phase II of Optometry Gives Me Life (OGML), ASCO’s public awareness campaign to help educate and encourage college students to consider a career in optometry.
The group met at the headquarters of Truth Collective, a public relations firm that has been working with ASCO for the past 4-1/2 years on this project, designing the campaign strategy and developing the creative materials used in the campaign.
Participants in the meeting included Dr. Lewis Reich, Chair of ASCO’s Applicant Pool Development Committee; Dr. Howard Purcell, Chair of ASCO’s Applicant Pool Advisory Committee; Dr. Michael Bacigalupi, Past-Chair of ASCO’s Communications Committee; Dawn Mancuso, ASCO CEO; Paige Pence, ASCO Director of Student and Residency Affairs; Kimberly O’Sullivan, ASCO Director of Communications; Stacy Schultz (Client Strategy Supervisor) and Mike Oelhafen (Associate Media Director) as representatives from True Media, ASCO’s communications firm; Truth Collective founders Robert Bailey and John Roberts; and Truth Collective staff members Sydney Aspenleiter (Senior Account Executive), Alyssa Davis (Associate Creative Director), Ken McVeah (Strategist), Jenn Piper (Director of Client Services), and Lynette Xanders (Director of Brand Strategy).
Much brainstorming and idea-generating discussions took place during the one-day meeting. The results of this meeting will be used to design additional information-gathering and discussions with various stakeholders that will eventually generate a proposal for phase two of ASCO’s applicant pool development work that will begin in FY24.
