MacuHealth’s Chief Science Officer to Speak at ASCO Clinic Directors Annual Meeting
Over the last year, MacuHealth has prioritized its goal to help advance optometric education and research in order to increase the public's visual health and well-being.
The company's unwavering support of optometry students will continue in September. Dr. Jim Stringham, MacuHealth's Chief Scientific Officer, will discuss new student-based research and nutrition curriculum directives during the Clinic Directors/Administrators SIG Annual Meeting. The event is scheduled for September 22-24, at Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove, Oregon.
Dr. Stringham is trained in vision science and earned his doctorate in experimental psychology and neuroscience from the University of New Hampshire in 2003. He did postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School and the Medical College of Georgia.
Dr. Stringham has spent much of his 25 years of experience conducting clinical trials researching the effects of nutrition on visual health and cognitive performance, specifically on the benefits of the macular carotenoids Lutein, Zeaxanthin and Meso-Zeaxanthin. He has held positions at the University of Georgia, the Air Force Research Laboratory, and most recently, the Duke Eye Center.
If your optometry school or student organization would like to learn more about how diet and vision are related, Dr. Stringham is available for lectures and presentations. Please email Emily Blum at eblum@macuhealth.com for details.
