NSUCO Bids Farewell to Assistant Professor, Dr. Perla Najman
Perla Najman, OD (’99), assistant professor, retires from Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry (NSUCO) after two decades of service. Dr. Najman graduated from NSUCO in 1999. Following graduation, she worked for a year as an independent Doctor of Optometry. She then returned to NSUCO to complete a one-year residency program in Primary Care with Emphasis in Cornea and Contact Lenses, and went on to serve as Chief Resident until 2002.
Since that time, she has been a full-time faculty member, holding the rank of Assistant Professor. Dr. Najman has been honored with receiving the “Most Student-Friendly” award from the Class of 2003 and the “Contact Lens Preceptor of the Year” award from the classes of 2006 and 2008. She has published posters in various topics in ocular disease and contact lenses and has played a supporting role for the NBEO. Her current research interests include specialty contact lenses and primary care optometry. Dr. Najman’s teaching assignments have included OTM and Contact Lens laboratories, clinical student preceptor for both Primary Care and Contact Lens clinics and residency supervisor. She has also guest lectured in the Resident’s journal club, Physician’s Assistant program, International Congress for Visual Health and has participated in a number of contact lens workshops.
