ASCO Holds Corporate Contributor Town Hall Meeting

ASCO Holds Corporate Contributor Town Hall Meeting

ASCO hosted a virtual Town Hall meeting with the Deans and Presidents of its member institutions and representatives from its corporate contributor community on Friday, March 31st. The virtual Town Hall events allow ASCO’s Corporate Contributors to interface directly with leadership at ASCO’s member schools and colleges in a group setting. In addition, these events also enable the eye care community to showcase new programs in development for the schools and colleges of optometry.

During the event, ASCO President, Dr. Melissa Trego presented updates about ASCO and discussed upcoming events and opportunities for sponsorship. Dr. Lewis Reich, President of the Southern College of Optometry and Chair of ASCO’s Applicant Pool Development Committee, provided a briefing about the success of ASCO’s public awareness campaign Optometry Gives Me Life including a look into the future of the campaign, which will feature opportunities for undergraduate students to shadow optometrists which will help them gain perspective on the career. Following the ASCO news, each participating corporation shared with the schools and colleges their plans for the upcoming fiscal year.

Corporate Contributors and leadership at ASCO institutions believe the information exchanged in this event is valuable. It allows all parties to communicate collectively and share ideas that will help improve the student experience and increase the profession’s awareness among those considering optometry careers. “The collaboration between industry and education is vital to the future of the profession,” says Director of Development Dave O’Donnell. “We greatly appreciate our Corporate Contributors support and look forward to working with each and every one of them in the coming year.”

The next Corporate Contributor Town Hall meeting will be held in the middle of September. Corporate Town Halls and other events are only open to current ASCO Corporate Contributors.
