Future Doctor of Optometry Jannah Said Joins ASCO as Communications Intern

Jannah Said is a pre-optometry student who is excited to join ASCO as the new Communications intern. She is a rising senior at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (go Tar Heels!), where she is pursuing her Bachelor of Science in Quantitative Biology and will be graduating this upcoming May.

After graduation, Jannah plans to take a gap year abroad in Egypt, where her dad’s side of the family is from. She hopes to spend the year traveling the Mediterranean and Middle Eastern region, visiting family, eating delicious food, and applying to optometry schools.

Jannah has had the opportunity to connect with many people in optometric education while attending conferences including American Academy of Optometry and American Optometric Association and is excited to continue her involvement in the community. She has also worked as both an Optometric Technician and Patient Service Coordinator at MyEyeDr since 2022. Her parents — Drs. Asma Khan and Osama Said — are both optometrists, and Jannah has had the opportunity to tech for them a few times.

A Raleigh local, Jannah loves the proximity of both mountains and beaches, but is partial to the beach. In her free time, she enjoys playing tennis, hanging out in coffee shops on Franklin Street with her friends, and visiting local farmer’s markets with her two younger sisters.
