The Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry (ASCO) announces Eye Opener Sessions, a complement to ASCO’s public awareness campaign, Optometry Gives Me Life.

ASCO announces a theme edition of the journal Optometric Education (https://journal.opted.org) that will be dedicated to global optometric education. ASCO welcomes manuscript submissions that highlight research, curricula, pedagogy, public health initiatives, and other projects that align with the theme edition’s mission of sharing ongoing efforts to advance the profession of optometry worldwide.

The Ohio State University Board of Trustees appointed Karla Zadnik, OD, PhD, as interim executive vice president and provost, effective Jan. 1, 2024.
 
The 2023 Springer Lecture marked a significant milestone for the endowed series—25 years. The first endowed lecture funded by the Nathaniel E. Springer Memorial Fund occurred in 1999.
 
Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO) at Salus University stars came out for the 16th annual Looking Out for Kids (LOFK) charity fundraiser Nov. 11, not only to support the children’s program but to honor one of their own, Susan “Dr. O” Oleszewski, OD ‘76, Resident ‘78, MA, FAAO, as the 2023 Lighthouse Award recipient.

The NSUOCO Alumnus of the Year award was formed to recognize outstanding alumni contributions to the NSU Oklahoma College of Optometry.
 
While doing a stint in The Eye Institute’s Neuro-ophthalmic Disease Service, Megan Patterson ‘25OD, was approached by Bisant Labib, OD ‘14, Resident ‘15, FAAO, co-chief of Suite 3 at The Eye Institute and associate dean of Optometric Special Programs for the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO) at Salus University.
 
The application for the Vision Science Undergraduate Research (ViSUR) program is now open and will close on February 1, 2024 at 8:59 p.m. PT.
