In collaboration with the National Board of Examiners in Optometry (NBEO®), the Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry (ASCO) continues to post the pass rate data for every U.S. optometric institution on its website. These results include outcomes of the now-retired Part III CSE exam as well as the new Part III PEPS exam.
 
Deadline to submit essays is February 18, 2025

Asef Chowdhury ‘26OD was on a Zoom call when he found out he was named the 2024 Joseph C. Toland Memorial Scholarship winner for the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO), Salus at Drexel University. 
 
Salus University has received the 2024 Health Professions Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) award from Insight into Diversity magazine, the oldest and largest diversity-focused publication in higher education.
 
Susan Cotter, OD, MA, FAAO, professor at the Southern California College of Optometry at Marshall B Ketchum University, a distinguished pediatric optometrist, was honored as the 2024 UAB School of Optometry’s Springer lecturer. A clinician-scientist, her presentation highlighted the advancements in amblyopia treatment, a vision disorder Cotter is passionate about.
 
 
Students from Midwestern University’s Chicago College of Optometry (CCO) and Occupational Therapy (OT) Program held examination sessions for the first-year College of Dental Medicine (CDMI) students for their future practice success under the direction of Jenelle Mallios, OD, FAAO, Associate Dean, CCO; Melisa Alabsy, DDS, MHA, Director, CDMI; and Dana Lingle, OTR/L, CHT, Assistant Professor, Occupational Therapy, College of Health Sciences (CHS-Downers Grove). The exams assist the dental students with proper practice for healthcare, help them correct any underlying issues, and encourage them to seek further medical care if necessary.
 
Southern College of Optometry’s (SCO) Vision Therapy and Rehabilitation Department was recognized as the recipient of the 2024 Advancement of Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Award presented during the fall NORA conference in Florida.

Latinos en Optometry has partnered with Transitions Optical to launch ”Eying the Future,” a free in-school educational program specifically designed to inspire middle and high school students in Latino communities to consider a career in optometry.

Examples of appropriate PhD programs include but are not limited to: Vision Science, Physiological Optics, Biomedical Sciences, Public Health, Education (emphasis on Optometric Education), Neuroscience, and Psychology.
