The National Eating Disorder Information Centre’s 7th biennial body image and self-esteem conference, RADICAL UNLEARNING, takes place May 9-10th, 2019 at the Chestnut Conference Centre in Toronto.
The conference has been organized around the theme Radical Unlearning, which calls for unpacking and unlearning negative and erroneous messaging to which people have been subjected. It will be a unique opportunity in Canada for attendees to share and learn more about current research, evidence-based practices, and innovations in the areas of eating disorder prevention and treatment in a multi-disciplinary, action-oriented environment. Attendees will gain practical skills they can apply immediately in their practice settings, from clinics to classrooms and beyond.
Workshop topics include: "Walk the Talk: Self-Compassion for Frontline Professionals”, "Who Controls the Message? Promoting Critical Media Literacy”, "Body Image in Female Youth Sports: Identifying Strategies to Quell Weight Commentary and Body Talk”, "Unpacking School Nutrition Education”, "Innovative Initiatives: Positive Prevention through Partnership”
