Join us as we welcome Sherri Vansickle RS, Native Education Counsellor with the Grand Erie District Board, and take the time to look into the intersections of society that affect our First Nations, Metis, and Inuit students. We will look into the 94 Calls to Action from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, The United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People, and the Calls to Justice from the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women/Girls Report. For those of us in the education system, conversations like this offer opportunities for professional growth (learning and unlearning), for support of our Indigenous students, and for the creation of environments where dialogue, understanding, and the dismantling of oppressive systems can take place.
