20 years of service, 11 locations bringing essential care to people and pets experiencing homelessness.

This fall, Community Veterinary Outreach (CVO) will be celebrating 20 years of bringing accessible
veterinary and human health care to people and pets experiencing homelessness in Canada. But the
celebrations will be far from sit down dinners and stuffy ceremonies. Instead, the organization is hosting Mini-Vet School (TM), a virtual event to answer pet owners’ most asked questions.

"I am thrilled to be celebrating CVO’s 20th anniversary of community service with our incredible
volunteers, community partners, supporters and sponsors across Canada. Please join us in this fun event
to bring Canadians together from coast to coast to support the people and pets in our communities," says
Dr. Michelle Lem, founder of CVO, and board member.

Mini-Vet School (TM) will take place on October 21, 2023, and is the perfect gift for a future veterinarian
aged 12, pet owner, or as a treat for yourself. Featuring six hours of programming on pet health from
world-class veterinary professionals, the event is virtual and across Canada. Replays are available for one year. The lectures are fun and cover a broad range of topics from fun facts about your dog with TV personality Dr. Marty Becker, to how to stop your cat from peeing outside the litter box. Mini-Vet School (TM) was originally held in 2002 in Ottawa to help raise funds for the charity to become registered. Since then, it’s been a popular local event. Post-pandemic, CVO is excited to bring the event to all pet owners! Community Veterinary Outreach is a national organization and a registered charity in Canada and the U.S.

The organization has 11 locations from coast-to-coast. Over its 20 year history, the organization has
innovated compassionate and accessible healthcare for both people and their pets experiencing
homelessness. CVO has received funding from organizations at the national, international, and local
levels. The organization also works with multiple educational institutions to provide graduate student
supervision and answer research questions to support the communities they serve.
