The Ontario Veterinary Medical Association (OVMA) is excited to announce the launch of the Future Veterinarian Bursaries, designed to support equity-deserving high school students interested in pursuing a career in veterinary medicine.
These bursaries aim to break down financial barriers that have historically limited diversity within the profession, as highlighted by findings from OVMA''s research. By providing financial assistance at a critical time in their educational journey, we hope to encourage and empower a more diverse generation of future veterinarians.
For the 2024-2025 school year, three bursaries of $1,000 each will be awarded to equity-deserving students who demonstrate financial need and a passion for veterinary medicine. The application process will follow a structure similar to other organizational bursaries, with the selection made by OVMA's EDI and Well-Being Committee.
This bursary is a small but meaningful step towards fostering diversity and inclusion in veterinary medicine. We look forward to working with educational leaders to help deserving students take the first step toward their dream careers.
