Genograms, or a family tree, are used by some career professionals to help clients gain valuable information about their career by looking at career patterns in a family unit. For those seeking more knowledge on this specific type of genogram, this listicle will provide further information on the tool as well as links to templates and explanatory articles.
"What do you want to be when you grow up?" is a question that potentially irritates careers advisors just as much as it does teens. It's a question that exasperates me so much that I've undertaken a PhD to investigate what questions and techniques we should use with adolescents. Let me explain why this is so important to me.
Working with teenagers for more years than I care to mention has taught me some of their unique idiosyncrasies. As I researched the reasoning behind this, I became increasingly intrigued by the development of the teenage brain. This is an area starting to gain more scientific attention. Although teenage behaviour has been maligned throughout history?with Aristotle, Socrates and Shakespeare all lamenting the lazy, hot-headed nature of teenagers?science only discovered in the early 2000s that all adolescents go through a period of brain restructuring that leads to some of the stereotypical behaviour we associate with this phase.

We have all seen rising anti-2SLGBTQIA hate in Canada and abroad; this sentiment lives in discussions surrounding trans athletes, queer refugees, drag performers and rampant rates of online abuse. This growing intolerance has solidified as hate-fuelled legislation, organized protests and sobering rates of targeted violence – evidenced by a 64% increase in hate acts against this community from 2020 to 2021.
Historical and contemporary discrimination against 2SLGBTQIA Canadians has led to inequitable socio-economic outcomes. In the workplace, we see these disparities manifest in several ways – from glaring underrepresentation in our workforces, to high rates of targeted harassment toward existing queer employees. Many burned-out workers have likely dreamed of hiring a career coach or résumé writer. Now, LinkedIn is introducing chats with generative AI career experts based on real people. Other new AI tools within the platform will help people write résumés and cover letters or evaluate their qualifications for jobs posted. LinkedIn has ramped up its generative AI tools in the past year and is moving to incorporate the tech into even more of its offerings. On Thursday, the career site announced new features like a pilot for AI-powered expert advice, an interactive chat to break down information in LinkedIn courses, and more AI features that can be used to search for and apply for jobs for its premium users in English. The changes showcase a massive push by LinkedIn to capitalize on generative AI. (LinkedIn is owned by Microsoft, which has invested heavily in OpenAI, which in turn is powering the platform’s AI offerings.) And as LinkedIn continues its drive to become more than just a job site, people may spend their time there socializing or learning new skills through video courses. Subscribers' Lounge
