The National Eating Disorder Information Centre’s 7th biennial body image and self-esteem conference, RADICAL UNLEARNING, takes place May 9-10th, 2019 at the Chestnut Conference Centre in Toronto. Keynote speakers: Sonya Renee Taylor – leader in the body positivity movement and founder of The Body Is Not An Apology Ben Barry – founding director of the Centre for Fashion Diversity & Social Change at Ryerson University Gerry Kasten – public health dietitian and adjunct professor at the University of British Columbia Lucy Aphramor – renowned dietitian and co-author of Body Respect: What Conventional Health Books Get Wrong, Leave Out, and Just Plain Fail to Understand about Weight Workshop topics include: "Walk the Talk: Self-Compassion for Frontline Professionals”, "Who Controls the Message? Promoting Critical Media Literacy”, "Body Image in Female Youth Sports: Identifying Strategies to Quell Weight Commentary and Body Talk”, "Unpacking School Nutrition Education”, "Innovative Initiatives: Positive Prevention through Partnership” More information and the registration form are posted at: http://www.nedic.ca/ conference Conference participants will be given hands-on tools from educational professionals, lawyers, LGBTQ2S advocates, and academics to understand and recognize the issues faced by LGBTQ2S communities. The training will include a focus on supporting LGBTQ2S youth and educators; working with trans & gender-variant youth; and sharing best practices. Please note there will also be workshops from urban, rural & remote perspectives; and from Public & Catholic perspectives. Programming will include intersectional issues (e.g. queer seniors and youth/queers and faith), teachers legal rights (including information around digital or other resources for teaching sex ed) and youth activism. The 5th Annual Ontario Educators Conference is taking place on April 25th, 2019, followed by the 2SLGBTQIA Educators' Conversation on April 26th 2019 at OISE, 252 Bloor St W, Toronto. Post Secondary Information
The Kelman Scholarship has been established to support an outstanding Ontario secondary school student who is interested in the protection of water quality and is planning on attending a post-secondary institution in a related field of study within the next year.
The scholarship is $500 and is provided by Craig Kelman and Associates Ltd., the publisher of WEAO’s INFLUENT magazine. The selected student will also receive one-year free student membership for the Water Environment Federation (WEF) and Water Environment Association of Ontario (WEAO), as well as recognition in INFLUENTS! The Canadian Association for Play Therapy (CAPT) Foundation Play Therapy Training offers individual days of unique training in the theory and practice of play therapy. Students are able to complete the 180 hours of continuing education credits at a pace and time that they choose. The 180 hours are one of the steps needed to become a Certified Play Therapist. The program instructors are professional skilled play therapists who bring expertise on a wide variety of topics. The courses will be offered in Toronto from July 8th through August 16th, 2019. Registration for the individual days of training from the selection of 25 one or two days courses is open now.
The Ontario College Information Fair (OCIF) is coming in October! OCIF is an excellent option to give your students exposure to college faculty, students as well as college reps. Every Ontario college is at the event! In order to provide access to as many students as possible, we are offering bus subsidies to high schools. Enercare Centre - Hall B, Exhibition Place, Toronto Wednesday, October 23 – 5:00pm-9:00pm Ontario Universities'' Fair (OUF): September 27-29, 2019 For more information, click here. If you can’t attend the OUF, you can still research Ontario’s 21 universities at a UIP event in the fall. After the OUF, the UIP travels across Ontario, offering fair-style events in most Ontario regions. The complete UIP schedule will be available on the OUF website in summer 2019. Note: This year, the UIP will also receive a new name and branding to be more consistent with the COU''s updated branding as well as the Ontario university community. The University Information Program (UIP) will become the Ontario Universities'' Regional Fairs (OURF). You will see fresh, updated branding and a new logo for the event, starting with a new website in spring 2019.

The Faculty of Social Sciences has created a new advanced credit program.
The credit recognizes the achievement of specific SHSM programs. Eligible students can receive credit for one 3 unit course. The student receives this course credit at no cost, saving at least $640 as they will have one less course to take towards degree completion. Register for the Ontario Universities'''' Guidance Dialogues (OUGD) 2019 before it''s too late. As in the past, we encourage you to attend the event at the university of your choice. You are not restricted to the site closest to you. Space is limited, so register early.
