The Russ Seltzer Award for Contribution to Counsellor Education in Ontario presented to honour contribution to Counsellor Education in Ontario, including teaching Guidance and Career Education Additional Qualification courses.
Carey Moltram has provided PD opportunities within his school community with a focus on anti-oppression and anti-racism in, not limited to, Black, Indigengous and Asian cultures. He continues to create a welcoming and safe space for his students, parents and community. Students vary considerably in the extent to which they are able to visualise and plan their futures, with the most disadvantaged at greatest risk. Schools can democratise access to the information and experiences that can help students as they navigate their paths through education systems. Chemins de la réussite bilingue - Conférence virtuelle pour les jeunes de la 10e -12e | Pathways to Bilingual Success Virtual Youth ConferenceIt''s back! This December, Canadian Parents for French (Ontario) will host the Pathways to Bilingual Success Virtual Youth Conference for students in grades 10-12. The conference will highlight the benefits of bilingualism and potential career pathways. This year we have added a special focus on the advantages and steps to becoming a French Second Language teacher, courtesy of SayOui.ca. FSL students will explore career opportunities, hear testimonials from a variety of bilingual speakers in different career paths, participate in academic, social and cultural events, and interact with guest speakers en français. Presented by Canadian Parents for French (Ontario) and funded by the Ministry of Education of Ontario, this conference is packed with cultural, professional, and educational experiences for your students. A great deal of career advice, while given with the best of intentions, is often not based on verified evidence and is anecdotal, hackneyed, contradictory, or outdated. We now have more clear evidence of what constitutes good advice in terms of which mindsets to hold while navigating one’s career. According to the evidence, some is powerful and effective, some is at best unhelpful, whereas some is downright bad. The authors break down which of the four most common career mindsets relates to objective career success, subjective career success, and employee job outcomes.

For some, the memory of that discussion has long since faded. What you may not have realized then was that these conversations shaped your world view of education and employment. For Indigenous people, these conversations were very different. |
