Leila Beltramo is the co-chair of the Retention and Recognition Committee within the MPI Potomac membership team. When asked for her favorite thing about volunteering for MPI Potomac, Beltramo emphatically replied, “The people!” She said that she has met and connected with such a great group, enjoys being given the opportunity to provide her input and likes hearing about what is coming in the pipeline for chapter events.
Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, Beltramo lived a number of years in Cape Town before moving to the U.S. 10 years ago. Her career has included 18 years in the hospitality industry. She started in service hospitality management in 1996 in Johannesburg and then spent time as a corporate trainer before coming back to the hospitality industry. The best career advice she ever received was to “make sure to introduce yourself to the 'top' leader — get to know them and make sure they know you. Preferably, for good reasons (ha ha)!”
When it comes to vacationing, Beltramo loves to go where the beach is. She just went on her first family Disney Cruise and described it as a magical experience that she highly recommends. She also loves to go on safari, which she explained is a “must-do” trip and added, “There is nothing like being out in the wild and seeing animals in their natural habitats.”
If money was no object, Beltramo would work for an organization that would help “put words into action of what we can really do now to help our children, and our children's children, to have a future.”
