RESILIENCY OF THE MEETING PROFESSIONAL SERIES In light of recent events, MPI Potomac knows our members have risen to the occasion despite widespread struggles in the meetings industry. It is our mission to provide valuable resources to support our members in this time of need. That is why we have put together a three-part series focused on handling stress, networking virtually and adapting to new workplace norms that will assist you in staying resilient through the unknowns ahead. May 27, 1 p.m. EST With the meetings/hospitality industry virtually at a standstill, and many MPI members losing their jobs, a lot of us are wondering what’s next, let alone how to pay our bills. This session will concentrate on the power of LinkedIn for building up your networking efforts, how to update your profile, as well as alternate job directions for industry people at a loss on where to start. June 10, 1 p.m. EST Forget work-life balance; you need to find your inner tree and learn to sway! Work is just one branch on the your tree. Family, health and friends are some of the many branches you may have. Time is finite, but your task list never is. Priorities shift and change on an almost daily basis. Throw a global pandemic in the mix and you may feel like a tree weathering a hurricane. Trees are designed to sway in the ever-changing winds. It is this sway that makes them strong and resilient. Like the tree, if you are too rigid, cracks will form and something will give.

Brittani Menina, CMP, CWP
Events Director
Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies
Brittani Menina has been passionate about the event industry since her first introduction in high school via the Academy of Hospitality and Tourism program. She went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in sports/entertainment/event management from Johnson and Wales University Charlottte campus. The best career advice she has ever received was to "create your own path, no matter the situation."
Her favorite vacation spot is her extended hometown, New Orleans. She says, "Everything about our culture, food and music makes it a place like no other." Her hometown is the Gulf Coast of Mississippi or Gulfport, Mississippi.

Latoya Lewis
Founder and Executive Director
EnventU
Latoya Lewis has been in the hospitality industry for 12 years. She says that the best career advice she's ever received is something she's always told herself: "Constantly check in with yourself and your situation. Make it a habit to take inventory and assess. Does this career choice still serve you? Are your goals still aligned? Because we grow and change as individuals and sometimes the positions we are in change as well. No time should be wasted doing something that doesn't speak to you personally and/or serve your professional aspirations."
Her top five places she would like to travel to are Bora Bora, Maldives, Greece, Ireland and Africa. She says that "she wants to go on a safari and camp out under the stars."
Lewis listens to everything! If she is at home and wants to relax, she likes to listen to the James Morrison Pandora playlist. If she needs to focus or has a deadline to meet, she loves to listen to hip-hop.
Her favorite food is sushi and her mama's banana pudding. One of her pet peeves is when people answer the phone only to tell you they can't talk. Her dream job if money wasn't an object would be to spend time traveling and collecting experiences.
