At MACE! 2016, we introduced a new initiative designed to help our MPI Potomac Board of Directors begin to shape our three-year strategic plan by hosting our first "Listening Tour" session.
We invited a cross-section of our members who represented our different demographics including member type (e.g., planner, supplier) and member tenure (e.g., 0-5 year member, 15 year member) and ended up with an intimate focus group of some of our newest planner members and a tenured supplier member who provided us with valuable feedback and insight. Some of the questions asked included:
- Why did join MPI and what do you value about your membership?
- What would make you not renew your membership next year or in the future?
- What is one thing the Potomac chapter should start, stop or continue doing to enhance your experience?
We look forward to hosting additional "Listening Tour" sessions across the next few months in various locations across our chapter area. If you would like us to be invited to participate in an upcoming session or have feedback you would like to share, please contact President-Elect Tammy Kockaya at tkockaya@kpmg.com or Leadership Board Director Carla Hunt at cghunt@omnihotels.com.
Please mark your calendar to attend our Evening of Stars Annual Meeting and Awards Ceremony on Thursday, June 23 at the Carnegie Library, where we will preview our strategic direction, recognize chapter members and leaders, and celebrate our many successes across the year.

PMPI's bimonthly magazine, Engage, is always available online. Don't miss our current issue, with features about strategizing buzz and creating ROE (Return on Experience), as well as a look at how CVBs are going mobile. We also introduce ConnectPMPI and highlight Washington, D.C., in our destination spotlight.
With each issue, we're always looking for contributors and ideas that will educate and inspire PMPI. If you're interested in writing an article for the magazine, which could earn your CMP credit, email Michelle Coombs at mcoombs@sandiego.org.
