China’s total April 2017 pulp imports were down 11% from March 2017, but were up+15% y/y. China’s pulp imports were up 23% through the first four months of 2017. The following graph, based on China Customs Bureau data, shows China’s monthly pulp imports from 2010 through April 2017.
March 2017 World-20 pulp shipments reached an all-time high of 4.54 million metric tons in March 2017. Pulp stocks declined during the first quarter of 2017: BHK (bleached hardwood kraft) pulp was down two days to 38, and BSK (bleached softwood kraft) pulp was down one day to 29, according to PPPC data.
