Amid Coronavirus, ASAE Urges White House to Support Associations

On Friday, White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow told CNBC that the White House is considering federal support to help industries and workers impacted by coronavirus (COVID-19). In response, American Society Association Executives sent a letter to the White House urging the Trump Administration to include associations in financial support to the travel and tourism industry as a result of COVID-19). In the letter, ASAE urges the White House to include tax-exempt associations suffering from event cancellations and reduced meetings attendance in any federal aid package. In addition, ASAE asked the White House to include tax-exempt entities in any temporary aid designed to stem the economic fallout resulting from COVID-19.
Susan Robertson, CAE, President and CEO of ASAE, said “meetings are the lifeblood for many associations and tax credits or other federal assistance are greatly needed to protect associations’ limited revenue streams and ensure tax-exempt organizations can continue to fulfill their important missions to the benefit of society.”
