SFK Repairs Extend Maintenance Shutdown at Saint-Felicien Mill

SFK Pulp Fund, Longueuil, Que., Canada, has extended the annual maintenance shutdown of its Saint-Felicien Mill in Quebec, to perform additional repairs following a breakdown at the recovery boiler. The production of NBSK pulp is scheduled to resume by December 22. Meanwhile, the company says, it will continue to fulfill its customers' demands as scheduled. Management estimates that this extension should remove an additional 10,000 metric tons of NBSK pulp from production in the fourth quarter. The cost of these additional repairs will be covered, net of deductible, by the company's insurance. SFK Pulp operates three mills located in Saint-Felicien, Fairmont, W. Va., and in Menominee, Mich., USA The SFK Pulp workforce totals a little more than 500 employees. The company has a total production capacity of up to 745,000 metric tpy.
