Domtar to Dismantle Prince Albert Pulp Mill

Domtar Corp., Montreal, Que., Canada, has announced that it will dismantle its permanently-closed Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Canada, pulp mill. The company will continue to remove machinery and equipment from the site and will take steps to engage the services of demolition contractors and file for a demolition permit.
The Prince Albert pulp and paper mill was permanently closed in the first quarter of 2006 and has never been operated since. The dismantling of the paper machine and converting equipment was completed in 2008 and the dismantling of the remaining assets is expected to start early this year.
Domtar is the largest integrated manufacturer and marketer of uncoated freesheet paper in North America and the second largest in the world based on production capacity. It is also a manufacturer of paper grade, fluff, and specialty pulp.
