Myllykoski's Outsources Plattling Mill Maintenance to Metso

Myllykoski's MD Plattling mill, Plattling, Germany, has agreed to outsource its maintenance operations to Metso, Finland. The multi-year agreement will become effective January 1, 2011.

According to the frame agreement, MD Plattling will outsource the maintenance of its two light-weight coated papermaking lines to Metso. The mill's some 70 maintenance personnel will start working for Metso next year. Metso already is responsible for maintenance of the SC-paper line, belonging to Rhein Papier's Plattling Papier, an alliance partner of Myllykoski. The SC-paper line started up in December 2007 and is located at the same mill site as MD Plattling. Myllykoski is one of the largest publication paper producers in the world, operating seven paper mills with a total capacity of close to 3 million metric tpy. It employs 2,700 people.
