U.S. Containerboard Production in July Increased 5.5% over 2009

For the ninth straight month, U.S. containerboard production rose over last year and posted the highest production amount since August 2008, according to the AF&PA’s July 2010 U.S. Containerboard Statistics Report released this week. Total production saw an increase of 152,200 tons or 5.5% over July 2009 and grew 4.5% compared with June 2010. The month-over-month average daily production also saw an increase of 1.2%. Year-to-date 2010 production has increased 9.8% over 2009. The containerboard operating rate for July 2010 rose 9.7 points over July 2009 to 98.0%.
Additional key findings from the report include:
- Linerboard production was highest since August 2008
- Corrugating medium production shows strong growth
- Containerboard operating rates continue to grow.
