Vaartimo to Retire from Metso

Metso, Finland, this week said that its executive VP and CFO Olli Vaartimo will retire per the terms of his contract, but will provide support while changes are made in the company's leadership. Last month, Vaartimo turned 60, which is the age of retirement in his executive contract.
Vaartimo is continuing as Metso's CFO and a member of the Metso Executive Team and will be available until the end of June 2011 to assist during the transition period as management changes are made.
The company is currently searching for a new CFO. Matti Kähkönen, who will start as Metso's president and CEO on March 1, 2011, is acting as Metso's executive VP and deputy to the CEO and as vice chairman of the Metso Executive Team. Kähkönen continues as president of Metso's Mining and Construction Technology segment.
