April U.S. box shipments were lackluster, Mark Wilde, senior analyst with Deutsche Bank, reports. Average weekly shipments rose 2.8%, while actual shipments were down 2.1%, slightly below Deutsche Bank's estimates. "Inventories fell 79,000 tons, inline with our expectations. Meanwhile, late Friday afternoon of last week, Official Board Markets reduced its estimate of U.S. containerboard prices by $30 - $50/ton. Financial fallout is unclear," Wilde says.
