U.S. January Containerboard Output down 0.5% from 2011, but up 1.5% over December

U.S. containerboard production was flat, losing less than 1% over the same month last year, according to the AF&PA's (Washington, D.C., USA) January 2012 U. S. Containerboard Statistics Report released this week. Production was up, gaining 1.5% compared with December 2011.
Since both December and January have 31 days, the month-over-month average daily production had a similar increase of 1.5%. The containerboard operating rate for January 2012 also gained 1.5 points over December 2011, increasing from 93.6% to 95.1%.
Additional key findings from the report include:
- Linerboard production fell slightly 0.9%
- Medium production was flat (0.5%) over January 2011.
