UPM Stracel Mill Employees Stage 24-hr Protest Strike

Employees at Finland-based UPM's Stracel mill in France began a 24-hr strike Monday of this week as a protest connected with the company's plans to sell the Stracel mill. UPM originally announced plans to sell the mill in August 2011.
The Stracel mill, located near Strassbourg in northeastern France, has approximately 280 employees and a capacity of some 270,000 metric tpy of printing and writing paper. The mill, established in the 1930s by the Swiss Thiel Group, was acquired by UPM in 1988.
