Floods Damage Metsä Tissue's Pauliström, Nyboholm Mills

Metsä Tissue, Finland, reports that two of its mills suffered some damage from flooding in parts of the Småland province in southeastern Sweden. The company's mills in the region, the Pauliström mill and the Nyboholm mill, are approximately 10 km apart in the area. Each mill has a production capacity of some 24,000 metric tpy of tissue.
According to a report by RISI, at the Pauliström mill water flooded a storage facility for finished products, reaching as high as 15 cm above floor level in some places. The mill is currently investigating the extent of the damage to products.
Some water seeped into the production facility at the Nyboholm mill, RISI reported, but caused no damage to machinery and did not interrupt production. The water did not damage the production facility at the Pauliström plant either, but manufacturing was halted from Saturday to Monday.
RISI further noted that workers and emergency services have built dams at both sites and the situation is now under control. The rain also destroyed some parts of the railway network in the region and damaged parts of the railway track between Metsä Tissue's two factories.
